ATTENTION The UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County office is closed until further notice, due to potential impacts from Tropical Storm Idalia. We will reopen when conditions permit. We are finishing storm-related cleanup work at our Twin Lakes Park office, and plan to reopen 8 a.m Thursday (Oct. 27) for regular business with classes, meetings and other in-person activity. The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic downturn have affected individuals and industries across Sarasota County. Families and individuals face financial struggles related to housing, utility costs, or childcare, and businesses and non-profit agencies confront work interruptions and operational challenges. UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County programs support businesses in the agriculture, horticulture, green business sectors, and more. We also educate residents, including low-income families. We encourage our stakeholders to take full advantage of all opportunities for assistance. Financial assistance is available to individuals, businesses and non-profits to help lessen the pandemic’s impacts. We are pleased to announce that the UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County office is open for business, with office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitors are encouraged to schedule appointments for pest/plant help, soil analyses and other general services , since staffing will be limited.
